16U/18U Hockey Interest Skate

We are making significant changes to our 16U/18U hockey program, and we are excited to share what's coming.

**PROGRAM CHANGES - HIGH-LEVEL OVERVIEW:**

The OKCYHA 16U/18U AA program will feature:

• **3-4 practices per week**, targeting approximately 6 hours of ice time weekly

• **Off-ice training program** integrated into the weekly schedule

• **Nutrition and dietary support** for player development

• **60-70 game schedule** with travel to markets that provide greater exposure to junior and collegiate programs

• **Increased resources and commitment** designed to maximize player development and advancement opportunities

Full program details, practice structure, competition schedule, and coaching staff information will be shared at our upcoming meeting.

**PLAYER IDENTIFICATION SKATE & INFORMATION MEETING**

**Date:** Thursday April 9th

**Time:** 6:00 - 7:00 PM (Skate) | 7:15 - 8:15 PM (Meeting)

**Location:** Arctic Edge Ice Arena

All players (2008-2011 birth years) interested in the 16U/18U AA program are invited to participate in a player identification skate followed by an information meeting. During the meeting, I will share detailed information about the program structure, our vision for the season, and why we are taking 16U/18U hockey in a new direction for OKCYHA.

Parents and players are encouraged to attend the meeting, which will last approximately 45-60 minutes and include time for questions.

**THIS IS NOT A TRY-OUT SKATE. NO PLAYER EVALUATIONS WILL BE CONDUCTED AT THIS EVENT. THIS IS A FREE SKATE TO HELP US IDENTIFY NUMBERS AND BIRTH YEARS. FORMAL TRYOUTS WILL BE SCHEDULED LATER THIS SUMMER.**

**IMPORTANT NOTE:**

Whether the AA team will compete as 16U or 18U has not yet been determined. This decision will be made shortly after the April 9th skate and meeting based on registration numbers and birth year distribution.
